On July 20th during Public Comment Period of the Affordable Housing Committee Meeting of the Seattle City Council the Seattle Short Term Rental Alliance (SSTRA) presented proposed next steps in consideration of regulating short term rentals (STRs) in Seattle.
The brief outlines three basic strategies to help guide the Seattle City Council in their decision making process:
- Allow SSTRA to support affordable housing as suggested on Page 18 in section R.9 of the HALA Recommendation
- Have the city commission a study of the true economic impact, as well as any possible impacts on affordable housing in Seattle.
- SSTRA requests a seat at the table in helping the city craft smart legislation, that can lead the nation in smart legislation of short term rentals.
